Fair Housing Policy

YRRBO is committed to equal housing opportunity for all. Discrimination has no place on this platform.

YRRBO operates as a neutral technology intermediary. We connect renters and property owners based on objective criteria. We do not make housing decisions, and we do not permit our platform to be used to discriminate.

Federal Fair Housing Act

The Federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 3601–3619) prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, or financing of housing based on:

Massachusetts Fair Housing Law

Massachusetts law (M.G.L. c. 151B) provides additional protections beyond federal law. In Massachusetts, housing discrimination based on the following is also prohibited:

Massachusetts law prohibiting source-of-income discrimination means that a landlord may not refuse to rent to a qualified tenant solely because they use a housing voucher or other lawful income source to pay rent.

YRRBO’s Role

YRRBO is a technology platform. We are not a real estate broker, property manager, or landlord. Our role is limited to:

YRRBO does not screen, approve, reject, rank, or prioritize any renter or owner on the basis of any protected characteristic. All matching is based solely on objective housing criteria: location, price, bedroom count, pet policy, and availability.

Notice to Property Owners

By listing a property on YRRBO, owners agree to comply with all applicable federal and Massachusetts fair housing laws. Owners may not refuse to rent, impose different terms, or otherwise discriminate against any renter based on any protected characteristic listed above.

Renter profile information - including personal introductions, household descriptions, and story fields - is provided voluntarily by renters to help owners understand their situation. This information may not be used as the basis for any discriminatory housing decision.

Violation of fair housing law is a federal and state offense. YRRBO reserves the right to remove any listing or account found to be used in a discriminatory manner.

Notice to Renters

Personal information you share on your YRRBO renter profile - including your story, household details, and reasons for moving to Cape Cod - is entirely optional. You are never required to disclose your family status, national origin, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

If you believe you have been subjected to housing discrimination through YRRBO, please contact us immediately at info@yrrbo.com. You may also file a complaint with HUD at hud.gov or the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) at mass.gov/mcad.
